"I WELCOMED THE DECISION OF THE CHURCH LEADERSHIP WITH ABSOLUTE ACCEPTANCE" REV MBAKA

TEARS flowed uncontrollably from parishioners and members of the Adoration Ministry as fiery Enugu Catholic priest and director of the ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, yesterday bowed out of Christ the King Parish, GRA, Enugu, which he presided over as parish priest for 20 years.

The entire Enugu capital city also stood still as over 30 lorries accom­panied by thousands of his adoration faithful escorted him in a motorcade to his new parish, Our Lady Parish, Emene, a suburb of the capital city.

Mbaka’s transfer became a topical issue as a section of the society saw it as a punitive measure for his recent prophecies especially that of Decem­ber 31st 2014, when he predicted that former President Goodluck Jonathan would be defeated in the 2015 elections. This has however been dismissed by the church who explained that the transfer is a routine exercise done every six years by the bishop.

But Mbaka’s transfer as a parish priest to a resident priest, where he will serve under another priest, has raised eyebrows eliciting further comments from close observers. Mbaka himself while handing over formally to his successor yesterday told those around that he was going to suffer, moving from a duplex to a room in his new parish but asked them not to worry that God has bigger plans for him.

“It is the will of God; and when the will of God either permissive or however, happens, nobody should question it. All you have today is Amen; so to the will of God Fr. Mbaka has said Amen.”

Mbaka said he welcomed the de­cision of the church leadership with absolute acceptance and obedience, stating that nobody should see him as a recalcitrant priest. He assured that the parish would not collapse due to his exit, and urged the mem­bers to treat his successor, Rev. Fr. Theodore Ozoamalu, well, and to assist him in any way he needs help and not allow him to cry.

His words: “Don’t starve him; don’t allow him to suffer; in my own time I didn’t need your help because God blessed me in my own unique way and I am happy. God will keep the parish because we have fought the good fight; I am not regretting anything and the highest gift God has given here is his Holy Spirit who assisted me up till now.”

We have gone over the initiatives taken from 2003 to last year and I assure you that the MoUs signed then and the other agreements have rapidly made progress.

We congratulate Kenya for discovering oil and gas – an area of great economic potential which Nigeria had the benefit of exploiting for over 50 years. We believe with indigenous technology, trained people from Nigeria will be able to help.

In other areas of the economy, we are going to benefit a lot from agriculture in Kenya. That is why the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development is part of my team here.

On the area of security, Nigeria has been very lucky in the sense that our immediate neighbours in the Lake Chad Basin Commission, that is Chad, Niger and Cameroon, are helping Nigeria to fight Boko Haram. We have been making progress and I believe Kenya has been making progress also with its neighbour Somalia.

On the continental side at the African Union level, we will discuss both security and economy this week in Ethiopia and try to build on the progress that has been made. And globally, since terrorism does not respect borders, does not respect cultures, does not respect ethnicity, it has become a global affair. So we have to do our best, in spite of the unfortunate demand it is making on the lean resources, to spend on security rather than social services like education, healthcare, water and infrastructure. A lot of money has to be spent on defence because unless we secure the country, we cannot manage it.

I am grateful to learn from President Kenyatta because he is my senior in his position. I just became the President of my country recently. In terms of dealing with terrorists in the neighbouring Somalia, for the last 25 years you have been dealing with that problem. Boko Haram started in in early 90s but between 2009 and now, about 10,000 people have lost their lives not to mention the millions that have been displaced.

So in our meeting, we have exhaustively discussed security, the economy and even touched on corruption and how it destroys the system and morale of the nation state.

I thank you very much Mr. President for this invitation. I assure you that we will rapidly make progress from now onwards on the MoUs and agreements already entered especially on trade and security.

Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier hit back at Trump in a statement Friday, knocking the New York billionaire's past support for legal abortion and praiseworthy comments about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"The only anchor here is the one being dragged behind the SS New York Values, causing Donald Trump's campaign to stall out as voters learn about his affinity for Hillary Clinton and his previous statements supporting abortion," Frazier said in a statement to CNN.

Trump has raised the issue of "anchor babies" in the United States more than any other candidate, regularly suggesting in his stump speeches that children born on U.S. soil to undocumented parents should not be U.S. citizens, as they are today considered under the law.

During the military era, all the suspects would have been detained indefinitely under the State Security Detention . Let us use words like Gestapo or dictatorship as loosely as it is being done during the Military Era. This is not an authoritarian rule but a democratic dispensation. Hence, we should rise up against the contraventions of human rights law by fighting impunity whenever it rears its ugly head.

A Senator representing Lagos Central in the eighth senate, Oluremi Tinubu has said blasted  that President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has failed to fulfill  its promise to women during the 2015 general election.

The lawmaker who is the wife of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, expressed dismay with the APC government while assessing the 2016 budget.

Reacting to the fact that the Ministry of Women Affairs got the least allocation in the budget, Oluremi called on the upper chamber of the national assembly to look into the issue in order to avoid the wrath of women.

She said, “In its manifesto, the APC mentioned the need for empowerment programms for Nigerian women. Such comprehensive empowerment requires fund which should be included in the budget for implementation. Going through the budget for the federal ministry of women affairs, I discovered that the total allocation to the women ministry is so meager and I think it would be the least allocation allotted to a ministry in history.

“And when we look at the functions of this ministry, the ministry is divided into two divisions: human resources and capacity building, economic services and women cooperative but when we look at the first division, which is human resources and capacity building, they are supposed to promote education, development of women in the civil, political, socio-cultural and economic sectors.

“All these that I have also mentioned require capital. Looking at this budget of less than N4bn, they have capital with almost N3bn. So, when you look at it, what is left?

“I am just laying this case on behalf of the Nigerian women. This is not going well… It’s as if we were used during the campaign, and we said this is a government of change. The change mantra is supposed to change things across board.

“What they have allotted to the Nigerian women is not encouraging. When we talk about change, it doesn’t mean we are going to dodge and support what is not working.

“This is the best way to start. So that the women would not just be used for campaign and several promises made to them. On behalf of the Nigerian woman, I am making their case today that this budget is not telling anything and not making any promises, so when it gets to the committee level, they should have a way of trying to amend this budget so that it would meet all the needs that the Nigerian women and they would not incur the wrath of the Nigerian woman.”

Going by the law maker point of view, we at this blog actually feel that the present government really needs to do more, ofcourse we agree, this is still a transition to a better Nigeria, however, a lot still need to be done and Nigerians should not be made to pay for sins not committed and women should be given more attention and should be empowered.

It was a show of  glamour, influence and affluence absolute display of wealth when Nollyhood Actor  Oladimeji Bose Committed her great grandmother Madam Olatohun Juliana Babaoye to the mother heart, Maami  who died on 8th of Dec 2015 was buried amidst glamour and funfair on 22nd of January at a popular Babaoye's Compound  ORO Kwara State . The Octogenarian was born about 97 years ago into the Family of Ile kotun and got married to Pa Babaoye of the Ile Eji Compound , Mama was described by one of the children Mr Emillius Bode Babaoye (A United State Based) as such a loving ,kindhearted mother, a disciplinarian per excellence, he went further to describe Late Madam Olatuhun as a role model to an idea mother who will be dearly missed by the entire family  and whoever must have had contact with her during her life time.
Maamin was survived by seven children as well as grand and great grand children among which is Bose Oladimeji ( trending Nollywood Actress) described MAMI as one great grandma in a million.
