Dr. DAVID OMBUGADU: A BEACON OF RESILENCE AND UNITY IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE 2023 NASARAWA GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION

His Excellency Dr David Ombugadu

In the aftermath of the 2023 gubernatorial election in Nasarawa State, Dr. David Ombugadu emerged as an embodiment of unwavering dedication to democratic principles. Despite the electoral tribulations and the subsequent contentious proclamation of the incumbent Governor Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Nigeria Electoral Commission, conducted in a bellicose manner wherein all agents of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties were forcibly evacuated from the collation center at gunpoint—evident in a widely circulated online video—the chairman of the PDP was observed driving away from the collation center, ostensibly creating a space for the purportedly impartial umpire but biased nonetheless. Dr. Ombugadu, resolute in his stance, remained steadfast.

The electoral tribunal, presided over by Justice Ezekiel, subsequently declared him the rightful victor, overturning the initial dubious and fraudulent declaration by the highly militarized Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, the pursuit of justice encountered further impediments as both the Appeal and the Supreme Court, in an unexpected turn, upheld the evidently manipulated declaration by INEC.

Unyielding in the face of the unjust adjudication, Dr. Ombugadu showcased a remarkable commitment to the unity of Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole, transcending ethnic and religious sentiments. Confronted with widespread protests sparked by the Supreme Court's decision, he assumed a position advocating for peace and tranquility, beseeching the people of Nasarawa to accord due respect to the court's verdict.

In a poignant missive directed to his supporters and the populace of Nasarawa State, Dr. Ombugadu conveyed heartfelt appreciation for their steadfast support during the electoral process and ensuing legal battles. Despite the outcome deviating from their anticipated trajectory, he acknowledged the resilience and dedication exhibited by the citizenry.

Dr. Ombugadu underscored shared values and a collective commitment to the advancement of Nasarawa State, urging for unity and resilience in the face of formidable challenges. While recognizing the daunting circumstances, he implored all stakeholders to contribute actively to the progress and development of the state.

Concluding his message, Dr. David Ombugadu extended gratitude to his supporters for their unwavering trust, emphasizing that their collective dedication significantly impacts the political landscape. He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and anticipated continued collaboration for a brighter future, not only for Nasarawa State but for the entire nation.

Nasarawa State's Battle for Justice: Rigged Elections, Unrest, and the People's Struggle for Genuine Democracy

Nasarawa State, Nigeria, has become the epicenter of a political storm following allegations of a rigged gubernatorial election that favored the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The controversy, characterized by result fabrication, electoral suppression, and falsification of results, ignited widespread protests as the people vehemently contested what they believed was a subversion of their democratic rights.

Despite mounting evidence and the peaceful outcry against the alleged election irregularities, Governor Abdullahi Sule chose not to address the concerns raised by the citizens. Instead, he opted to escalate the political temperature by injecting religious coloration and resorting to derogatory name-calling against the peaceful protesters. This strategy aimed to deflect attention from the core issues at hand and divide the protesters along religious lines.

Governor Sule and Coopt and known Feudal lords  injected religious coloration into the protest, engaging in derogatory name-calling against the peaceful demonstrators and exploiting divisive narratives, claiming that allowing a Christian to govern Nasarawa State would endanger Islam.

Another baseless narrative emerged, attempting to discredit Dr. David Ombugadu based on age and experience when whereas we have had  current President as Lagos State and best performed Governor at 47. The illogical argument suggested that Ombugadu's 45 years and eight years of federal legislative experience is obviously, logically and politically superior  to Sule's background in the manufacturing sector, obviously lacking any elective or governance experience. These red herrings, coupled with religious and ethnic insinuations, further show pettiness and irresponsibility from the pact of a supposed  Governor expected to be just to all regardless of religion or ethnic affiliation .

The peaceful protests persisted, demanding justice and the recognition of the true winner, Dr. David Ombugadu of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The people's commitment to the cause faced a major setback when the Election Tribunal ruled in favor of Dr. Ombugadu. However, this initial victory was short-lived as the Appeal Court, believed by many to have been influenced by powerful individuals with vested interests, controversially overturned the tribunal's decision and reinstated Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The prevailing belief among the populace is that certain bourgeoisie individuals, who have been exploiting the state's resources with the aid of Governor Sule, orchestrated the Appeal Court's decision. Allegations of bribery and manipulation cast a shadow over the integrity of the judicial process, leading to a deepening sense of unrest and frustration among the people.

The situation took a tragic turn when a peaceful protest was met with excessive force as a military vehicle was deployed to suppress the demonstrators. In a horrifying turn of events, the military vehicle ran over and injured several protesters, turning a peaceful demonstration into a chaotic and tragic incident despite people freedom of peaceful assembly as embedded in chapiter 4 of the country sacrosanct constitution of the country, the action of the Military  brandishing their weapon amidst people peaceful protect to the extent of running them over show how decay and barbaric the Military is becoming in recent time as an instrument oppression which can also be evident in the Military invasion of a state police headquarter, harassing and shaving people head for their style of hair they actual right is really barbaric and believe such disgraceful and barbarism needs to curb by the rank and file of the Military

Nasarawa State is currently in the grip of what many describe as an absolute perversion of justice. The few, allegedly exploiting the state's resources for personal gain, are forcefully attempting to impose their will on the majority. The citizens remain undaunted, standing firm in their commitment to paying any price to restore justice and bring back Dr. David Ombugadu, who is widely believed to have legitimately won the gubernatorial election.

Dr. Ombugadu, recognized for his people-oriented approach and commitment to equality, stands as a stark contrast to the perceived self-serving interests of the current administration. The record reflects his dedication to utilizing state resources for the betterment of the entire populace, challenging the status quo that allegedly prioritizes the interests of a select few.

As Nasarawa State grapples with this unprecedented political crisis, the struggle for justice and fair governance unfolds, testing the resilience of democratic values and the commitment of the people to upholding their rights against formidable forces. The people implore the judiciary to examine the allegations and restore faith in the democratic process. The hope lies in the Supreme Court's intervention to rectify the perceived injustices, ensuring the recovery of the people's mandate and the affirmation of Dr. David Ombugadu as the duly elected governor generally believed to have scored the highest vote during the Governorship election.

Controversial Twist: Nasarawa's Stolen Mandates Remain in Limbo ( Will the will of the Feudal lords Prevail over the will of the people)

The revelation that Nasarawa State's stolen mandates would remain unrecovered reverberated through the entire populace, evoking widespread shock and concern. The Justice Ezekiel-led tribunal had previously reinstated these mandates by declaring David Ombugadu, the PDP candidate, the legitimate winner, despite apprehensions of electoral malpractice. This decision resonated with the prevailing belief that he had genuinely secured the majority vote in the election.

Expectations were high for the appellate court to validate the tribunal's decision, echoing the will of the Nasarawa people. However, the outcome took an unexpected turn, deviating from the tribunal's verdict. Speculation has arisen that the appellate court may be yielding to external pressures, reminiscent of the events surrounding the same candidate in 2019.

A growing perception among the public asserts that the appellate court is undermining its credibility and integrity. The central question persists: when will the authentic will of the Nasarawa people be genuinely acknowledged? The influence of affluent individuals allegedly exploiting the state's resources for personal gain, as disclosed in the late Militia Terrorist GANA's confession, raises serious concerns about the motives behind subverting the people's choices.

Governor Abdulahi Sule's involvement further complicates the situation, with accusations of fanning ethnic and religious tensions, despite benefiting from a tribunal with a judge formation favoring him in 2019. His disparaging remarks about protesters expressing legitimate concerns and attempts to link governance to religious affiliations add a troubling dimension to the situation.

The notion that Nasarawa should not be governed by a Christian, with claims that it would be detrimental to Islam, challenges the principles of an egalitarian society. Additionally, arguments asserting that a 45-year-old with legislative experience is too young to govern Nasarawa are refuted by examples of prominent leaders like the Current President of the Federal republic of Nigeria (Lagos Governor at 47, Macron of France at 39 and other) assuming significant roles at a similar age, highlighting the apparent hypocrisy of those attempting to subvert the people's will.

Further raising concerns is the questionable conduct of the appellate court, notably the premature announcement of the judgment on Twitter by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, 24 hours before the official delivery. This casts doubts on the transparency and integrity of the appellate court's proceedings.

As Nasarawa's political landscape becomes increasingly convoluted, many eagerly await answers, hoping that the judiciary, potentially through the Supreme Court, will address these concerns and restore faith in the democratic process. Meanwhile, peaceful protests emerge as a legitimate means for the people to express dissatisfaction with those perceived as exploiting the system for personal gain, demanding justice and fairness in governance. The awakening of the citizenry signals a collective rejection of the perceived electoral robbery and a call for the restoration of the mandate freely given to Dr. David Ombugadu of the PDP

Dangers of Blaming Religion for Political Failures in a Democratic Society

Within the intricate tapestry of democratic societies, pivotal values, including accountability, responsibility, and unity, serve as linchpins upholding the societal order. Yet, when political leaders opt to make religion their scapegoat for their own inadequacies, they not only subvert these cardinal principles but also pose formidable threats to the bedrock of democracy itself—a foundation that transcends religious affiliations and encompasses the entire citizenry.

The act of attributing political setbacks to religious elements masterfully diverts attention from the substantive issues at hand. Rather than addressing their inherent limitations and heeding the aspirations of their constituents, these leaders, by deflecting culpability toward religious enterprises, engage in a subterfuge that flagrantly contradicts the very tenets of responsible leadership within the democratic framework.

The introduction of religious narratives into the political arena harbors the insidious potential to sow schisms within society, thereby fostering a pernicious polarization and animosity among the diverse religious communities that make up its fabric. The nurturing of unity and the cultivation of tolerance represent pivotal keystones for democratic coexistence. Nevertheless, the introduction of divisive religious rhetoric imperils the fragile tapestry of harmony woven across democratic societies, subsequently posing an imminent peril to the bedrock of trust within the democratic system. Blaming religion, in effect, precipitates a crisis of confidence among citizens, who begin to question the impartiality of elections, ultimately discerning them as biased by religious considerations, rather than objective evaluations of competence.

These deleterious narratives, incongruous with the sacred values of democracy, manifest increasingly among certain governors. These governors, having lost their re-election bids due to ineptitude, were collectively shunned by constituents, both Christian and Muslim, who suffered the tribulations resultant from their governance. Evidently, discerning citizens, driven by shared ordeals, have grown more judicious. It is paramount to underscore that this abdication of responsibility fosters stagnation and impedes progress within democratic societies. Such narratives obfuscate the pressing concerns at hand and dissuade individuals of competence from engaging in the political arena. Genuine leaders focus on resolving concrete challenges, unswayed by the facile lure of religious scapegoating. A responsible leader, in contrast, prioritizes the interests and aspirations of the people, as vividly elucidated by the collective rejection of Governor Sule Abdulahi of the APC in Nasarawa State, in favor of Dr. David Ombugadu of the PDP, a clear indictment of incompetence and a testament to the heightened acumen of the populace.

In the face of such an unequivocal verdict, one would reasonably expect Governor Sule Abdulahi to graciously acknowledge defeat and seek reconciliation with the people. However, he opted for dubious means, leading to allegations of electoral subversion, as substantiated by the electoral tribunal's findings. It is incumbent upon leaders to adhere unwaveringly to facts and figures, eschewing the treacherous path of religious narratives that may inadvertently germinate the seeds of extremist ideologies. Such ideologies, if allowed to take root, can inflict havoc upon society, jeopardize security, and, ultimately, propagate a perilous state of anarchy, a condition detrimental to the welfare of all. True leaders, emulating the example set by Goodluck Jonathan, place the sanctity of human life above transient political victories.

In the democratic landscape, leaders must be held unswervingly accountable for their actions and decisions. To blame religion for political failures, however, not only undermines the bedrock of democratic principles but also cultivates an atmosphere characterized by tension, division, and mistrust. The propagation of such narratives, far from advancing the democratic process, exerts a deleterious influence upon the collective well-being and progress of society. It is paramount that a responsible political leader, regardless of their religious affiliations, relentlessly should prioritize responsible governance, unity, and accountability to solidify the very foundations of democracy and people should have it at the back of their mind that Hunger, poverty, and neglect on the streets of Nasarawa State or any state  recognize no religious distinctions, and an enlightened populace is no longer susceptible to divisive machinations of these scavengers in power.

Goldswealth Observation

AN ADDRESS TO ALL CITIZENS OF NASARAWA STATE BY SENATOR DR. WALID JIBRIN OON, NPOM SARKIN FULANI OF NASARAWA OVERSEEING WHOLE OF NASARAWA STATE

I am Senator WALID JIBRIN, a devout Fulani by tribe a devout Muslim and the Sarkin Fulani of Nasarawa state. i'm a former Senator and Former Chairman PDP Board of Trustees. I was also privileged to be the Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council that coordinated all PDP campaigns in Nasarawa state for the 2023 House of Assembly, National Assembly, the Governorship and Presidential elections in Nasarawa state. lam an elder over 70 years and | am very worried about what is going on in our country today. At my age I went round the whole of Nasarawa state during the last campaign. It was very clear everywhere we went that the people were no longer with the incumbent Governor Engr Audu Sule of the APC. From the 1st APC campaign outing in Toto Local Government the Governor was greeted by women and youths with street protest. They told him clearly that they were tired of his lack of performances and empty promises.

In fact Toto had been without electricity for almost ten years of APC governorship in our state. Everywhere the Governor and his team went the reception was cold and scanty which was a very clear signal that Governor Sule was out of touch with the needs and aspirations of the people of Nasarawa state.

I'm aware that after two years in office the Governor dismissed the advice from leaders and members of his party to fulfill his campaign promises.

Instead of listening to his party’s in-house advice to roll up his sleeves and work for the people, he flared up at them and publicly swore that he would do only one term and relocate abroad to live his life in peace!

I was therefore not surprised by the cold and in many places the hostile reception Engr Sule campaign witnessed across Nasarawa state.

The Presidential election on February 25 was the foretaste of things to come. In Nasarawa state the Ruling Party the APC came last! lt was clear there won't be any miracle for APC in the governorship election which was just two weeks ahead!

In the governorship election Governor Sule suffered crippling defeat as voters in his Local Government of Akwanga overwhelmingly rejected him and voted massively for the PDP Governorship candidate Dr David Ombugadu.

Similarly, in Sule’s senatorial zone, he suffered crushing defeat after four years in office.

The situation in the Southern Zone was even worse for the Governor who was defeated flatly in Lafia the state capital and in Doma Local Govt where His Deputy Dr Akabe hails from!

Obi Local Government also rejected him and voted massively for Dr David Ombugadu of the PDP! These are the most populous LGAs in the Southern zone!

In the West Senatorial zone, only Keffi gave Sule any real winking votes. He was defeated in Kokona where the state Chairman of APC hails from and in Karu which has the highest numbers of registered voters in our state, Governor Sule was overwhelmingly defeated as voters adding magic votes at the Local Government collation center just to declare the loser As winner to shock of all Nigerian!

We were all shocked by what happened because up to this day the results from polling units of Nasarawa state on the INEC IREV platform shows that Engr. Sule lost to Dr Ombugadu of the PDP! Instead of conceding defeat as is the case in true democracy the State government collided with INEC in Lafia to add massive figures to Sule’s vote just to declare him winner!

When Sule was declared protests by women and youths erupted all over the state.

The PDP showed maturity by rejecting the fraudulent declaration and following the due process of Law to reclaim Dr Ombugadu’s mandate.

It is therefore very shocking that instead of accepting the widely anticipated…

The Impact of Nigeria's Youth Culture on Society: A Case Study of MOHBAD and Others"

I would like to address a pressing concern regarding the state of Nigeria's youth and its impact on society, particularly focusing on individuals like MOHBAD and their influence. To maintain my anonymity, I choose not to reveal my identity, not out of fear but due to the sensitive nature of my profession.

First and foremost, I want to express my profound sadness over the hasty burial of MOHBAD and the need to handle this situation with care and empathy. It's essential that we address the potential issues surrounding MOHBAD's father's actions while ensuring his well-being and understanding his perspective during this trying time.

However, my primary focus here is to shed light on how Nigeria's youth seem to be inviting calamity and destruction upon themselves by celebrating individuals like James Brown, Bob Risky, Abul Abel, Sam Larry, Naira Marley, and others. I'm particularly concerned about the intrusion of Naira Marley into Nigeria's cultural landscape.

Naira Marley, a figure who openly confesses to criminal activities, including being a member of a notorious gang in London, has garnered unwarranted praise. He even referred to himself as a "god" in Nigeria, transitioning from a prison inmate in London to a celebrated figure in Nigeria. This is an insult to Nigeria's youth, as Naira Marley has never concealed his criminal tendencies, advocating for violence, drug peddling, and addiction. Despite this, many have been bewitched by his persona, leading to the formation of a 'Marlian' group.

It's disheartening to witness Nigerian youth proudly identifying as 'Marlians,' with some even tattooing his symbols on their bodies. This blind allegiance is nonsensical and raises questions about the influence such figures hold over impressionable minds.

Furthermore, the blame for the NDLEA appointing Naira Marley as its ambassador shouldn't fall solely on the agency. Nigeria's youth have constructed a narrative around Naira Marley, almost deifying him, believing he can influence their behavior positively. Despite promises to abstain from drug use, he continues without consequences.

Additionally, questions arise regarding the recent raid on Naira Marley's property. How could such an operation occur without NDLEA approval? Whose authorization was used, and who was the raid intended for? Why wasn't the property owner arrested? These are crucial inquiries that demand answers.

Turning to individuals like Abul Abel and Sam Larry, I struggle to discern any substantial differences between them. Both seem to have ordered harassment against certain individuals without remorse. The viral video of Abul Abel openly instructing the harassment of DJ Chicken exemplifies the level of lawlessness prevailing. Yet, Nigerian youth not only tolerate but also celebrate such barbaric acts.

As for Sam Larry, his behavior mirrors that of Abul Abel. His actions suggest oppression and harassment, raising questions about why Nigerian youth continue to endorse and applaud such behavior.

In conclusion, these observations highlight how Nigeria's youth may unwittingly be inviting calamity by embracing individuals who openly advocate criminal activities. These individuals have never hidden their true selves, but somehow, their influence continues to grow.

As we navigate this challenging landscape, I implore Nigerians not to involve the President and the Governor in this matter. It transcends politics and should be approached as a collective struggle. Let us remember that the fight for a better Nigeria goes beyond party loyalty. I personally support ASIWAJU and GOVERNOR Sanwo Olu of Lagos, albeit discreetly due to my professional ethics.

"Assessing Abu Abel and Sam Larry: A Critical Examination of Nigerian Youth's Idolization of Controversial Figures"

In this analysis, I delve into the contrasting actions of two individuals, Abu Abel and Sam Larry, and their influence on Nigerian youth. Both figures have exhibited questionable behavior, with Abu Abel ordering the overt harassment of DJ Chicken and Sam Larry's involvement potentially contributing to MOHBAD's untimely demise. This prompts us to question whether we should celebrate or idolize such individuals, as the lines between good, bad, and ugly become increasingly blurred. This situation sheds light on the hypocrisy of Nigerian youth, who, at times, seem to celebrate those who oppress them.

1. Abu Abel and DJ Chicken:

Abu Abel's involvement in ordering the harassment of DJ Chicken is a stark example of lawlessness and anarchy in society. The incident raises concerns not only about the level of impunity but also about the mindset of Nigerian youth, who, rather than condemning such actions, sometimes appear to endorse them. DJ Chicken's ordeal, although alarming, serves as a glaring illustration of how societal norms are eroding.

Abu Abel Flanked by Naira Marley (Marlian Group Head)

2. Sam Larry and MOHBAD:

The situation involving Sam Larry and MOHBAD takes a more grievous turn as it potentially connects to MOHBAD's tragic demise. While it would be premature to attribute MOHBAD's death solely to Sam Larry, it underscores the disturbing trend of celebrating individuals whose actions might contribute to the suffering of others. This case raises important questions about the consequences of idolizing controversial figures.

3. The Blurred Lines:

The boundary between good and bad, and even ugly, becomes increasingly indistinct when examining the actions of individuals like Abu Abel and Sam Larry. Nigerian youth are confronted with the dilemma of celebrating those who may be complicit in acts of oppression or even violence. This blurring of moral lines is a cause for concern and warrants introspection.

4. The Hypocrisy of Nigerian Youth:

The situation reveals a troubling aspect of Nigerian youth culture—the tendency to idolize figures who may not have their best interests at heart. The hypocrisy lies in the contradiction between advocating for positive change and celebrating those whose actions may perpetuate societal ills.

In conclusion, the cases of Abu Abel and Sam Larry bring to the forefront critical questions about the moral compass of Nigerian youth. Is it right to celebrate individuals who may be involved in harassment or, in the worst cases, even tragedy? This complex issue requires careful consideration, and it's essential to reflect on the values we uphold as a society. As Nigerian youth, we must strive for a more discerning and principled approach to our role models and influencers.

CHRONICLE OF PRINCE LANREWAJU SANUSI (PLS). THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON POLITICAL GLOBALIZATION

Pandemics are known to trigger significant socioeconomic and political crises. The outbreak of coronavirus disease started in Wuhan China, in December 2019, and in a couple of months, it was declared a global health emergency. The pandemic is expected to cause greater human suffering compared to other contagious diseases. Apart from being considered as the greatest threat facing global public health, the disease has been considered as an indicator of existing inequity and deficiency in social advancement (Chakraborty & Maity, 2020). Currently, the global cases stand at 5.4 million, 2.2 recovered cases, and 342, 346 deaths. The cases are spread across 213 countries (Coronavirus update (Live). The discussion will focus on the impact of the pandemic on globalization and on politics.
Globalization
The rise of globalization has eased interaction between people, which has been beneficial and detrimental to the political, social, and economic aspects of the involved parties. One of the major developmental factors that have promoted globalization is the technological advancement that has eased the movement of people and has contributed to widespread pandemics, particularly the COVID-19. New trends of globalization features have been prompted by the pandemics with the latest data forecasting how leaders should plan to shape a scenario where anti-globalization and globalization pressures are still enduring features that makes up the business environment. Given the uncertainty of the situation, predictions on the effects of the pandemic on globalization and politics can only be made roughly as the pattern may change with time. The pandemic has caused the fastest and largest decline in the international flows with a 13-32% reduction in merchandise trade, a 30-40% decrease in foreign direct investment, and an estimated drop of about 40-80% in international airline passengers (Altman, 2020). Although a fundamental collapse of the integration of the international market is not signaled, the numbers imply a major rollback of recent gains of globalization.
Key Drivers of Globalization’s Trajectory
Implications of the pandemic on globalization and the implications on the businesses can be predicted through an analysis of the major drivers of the globalization's trajectory. A global growth pattern is a key driver. The macroeconomic cycle impacts international flows, where they grow faster even than the GDP with favorable factors and shrink faster when factors are unfavorable. Robust growth will be achieved after the pandemic is put under control. Positive growth patterns can be achieved by contribution towards health, international cooperation, and growth through efforts such as the manufacture of medical supplies and support market to soften the impact of the pandemic on the economy (Altman, 2020)

PRINCE LANREWAJU SANUSI (PLS)
Supply chain policies can predict the impact based on whether countries consider international diversification or domestic self-sufficiency. Economic logic favors international diversification, but politics at many times forces domestic self-sufficiency, especially in the production of necessities, especially those related to health and security. Friction between the superpowers and the fragility of the situation also has an impact on globalization. The relationship between countries affects significant decisions such as raising capital, markets to invest, and supply bases. Predictions have been made that the pandemic will hasten the fracturing of globalization along regional lines with China and the United States being the centers of the competing blocs. Technological shifts, including e-commerce, use of robots, and videoconferencing. The pandemic induced shifts may be later used to strengthen globalization if protectionist policies are not introduced. Public opinion based on the direction in which the pandemic will take place also has an impact on globalization and can be used to predict the impact of the pandemic on globalization (Altman, 2020).
Impact of the Pandemic on Forces of Globalization
New developments and gradual changes drive globalization. Technological forces are the major drivers of globalization as they shape and set the foundation. The rapid growth of the internet is the latest technological force that has promoted globalization through e-business and enhanced communication. According to research conducted by Atlantic Council's GeoTech Center, technology experts predict the impact of COVID-19 on technological innovations in fields such as health and medicine, artificial intelligence, data, space commercialization, and supply chains (Scott, 2020). The pandemic is expected to accelerate innovations in all other, apart from space commercialization, where the little impact is expected. Developed countries are expected to be at the forefront. Major developments are expected in the field of data and health technologies. Western nations such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and others are expected to experience innovations in the work-related fields, medical field, and supply chain. China and Russia are expected to experience development in AI and data fields.
The implications of the innovation are that the changing work practices of the free-market countries will require innovation, while employment will be created in government-controlled economies. Autocratic governments will face less constriction by disconnected datasets, privacy regulations, popular opinion, the innovation of more efficient AI and data, and their rapid integration into society. Innovations triggered by the COVID-19 will benefit different demographics to different extents.
The market forces have also been affected greatly by the pandemic. Markets for various products will be affected differently depending on the necessity of the product. The pandemic has drastically affected the movement of people across borders, the flow of raw materials, operations of industries, and other factors. More restrictive practices for certain commodities have been put by various countries to protect their own citizens. Markets for commodities for pharmaceuticals and protective gears have greatly increased at the national levels, and the market expansion fully relies on the raw materials that a country possesses. With the restricted movement of people market for certain services and products has been reduced, and demand has reduced. Such markets include the transport industry, tourism, and the entertainment industry, especially based on the nature of services (Scott, 2020).
For industries that can offer services online, the market has expanded through the adoption of relevant technologies, which has boosted and increased the size of the market. Certain markets have taken new strategies to reach customers, and the trend may continue even after the pandemic, depending on the effectiveness of the strategies. The pandemic may shape new markets, especially with the disruptions that have resulted in limited access to certain products countries that can no longer import the products that have resulted in the local production of the commodities. Depending on the ideologies of countries, such opportunities may greatly impact global markets for such products as countries experience the impacts of over-reliance on other countries for certain commodities, which has proven inconvenient.
The culture also drives globalization and impacts international trade, communication, preferences, mindset, and business relationships formed. The current crisis has impacted the culture of the people through protective measures that have been put into place. They include handwashing practices, working from home, maintaining social distance, and using technology for interaction. Globalization may be strengthened by new practices such as video calls and teleconferences rather than physical meetings as businesses may find the strategy more appropriate and continue with the trend. For example, businesses that have shifted their operations online may continue with the new markets that they entered during the pandemic.
Impact of COVID-19 on Globalization
Social Impact of COVID-19 on Globalization
Far-reaching social impact is expected on globalization with a tendency towards populism and nationalism as the pattern had already gained momentum before the pandemic. National sentiments are usually strengthened during a crisis as people focus on their countries and states, offering organizational, financial, and even emotional support that cannot be offered by the global institutions. Symbols of unity and belonging, such as flags and anthem, which offers patriotism, do not exist at the international levels. For example, the EU was criticized by the member states due to its failure to deliver on the promise of solidarity. According to xxx, nationalism and populism may result in xenophobia, hatred, and even violence. Special Rapporteur of the UN, Fernand de Varennes reported that fears surrounding the pandemic were being used by certain groups and even the politicians to scapegoat some communities, which could lead to violence against the groups. Such acts were evident in attacks against certain groups such as the Asians, and hate speech blaming certain communities for the spread of the virus. The situation is expected to change after the crisis, although the effects may be long-term (R Yacoub & El-Zomor, 2020).
The long-term social impacts of the pandemic are expected to positive. The pandemic has proven that technological advancements and academic developments, it might be impossible to foresee a disaster and make proper preparation. Global efforts have proven to be more effective in dealing with pandemics compared to nationalization. Nationalization reduces the ability to address pandemics and make countries more susceptible to other dangers that may occur. The pandemic has made it clear that countries may be hit by a common fate. According to Kojeve, a French philosopher contemplates the notion that nationalization can be overcome by citizens who suffer a common fate. The ideology that countries share a common fate will promote globalization at higher levels. The creation of the European Union and the United Nations that were formed after the world war II can be used to illustrate that global unity is promoted by a common fate. Despite the nationalization steps taken by various countries, solidarity among nations is very clear (R Yacoub & El-Zomor, 2020). For example, researchers over the globe are working towards establishing that will benefit all countries. Countries have been helping each other through the supply of health workers, protective gear, and other medical supplies in efforts to mitigate the impact of the pandemic.
Political and Legal Impact of the Pandemic on Globalization
The short-term political effects of the pandemic have been termed as pathetic. International treaties are currently on hold in line with international law as the period is termed as a state of necessity to ensure that nationalist protection measures are taken to protect the health of the public. Closing of borders to maintain public health is a great move towards nationalization, and the act breaches international law, contributing to the fragmentation of the law, cosmopolitanism, and also globalization. Certain moves by nations such as the pause of the NAFTA as Canada and the U.S close their bounder, although the agreement is still valid and has a great impact on globalization. Other actions taken by various countries include restrictions by countries on the importation of certain products and protective steps to prevent the privatization of essential sectors. Bilateral Investment Treaties have been breached unwillingly. For example, Italy has breached over 70 bilateral investment treaties and risks damaging claims by direct investors after the crisis. The breaches could be rooted in certain obligations, including the Fair and Equitable Treatment, national treatment, direct and indirect expropriation, and full protection and security obligation. The claims listed can be defended based on the state of necessity, a provision by the international law given that the World Health Organization has termed the pandemic as a state of necessity. Therefore, Italy would not be liable to pay the damage claims (R Yacoub & El-Zomor, 2020). Although the long-term effects of the pandemic cannot be adequately predicted, various speculations can be made. Countries are expected to open their borders after the pandemic. For the EU to regain the free movement of workers and goods among the member states, it will be required to re-validate the Lisbon convention. The restoration of the international order will be restored after the pandemic, and trade between Canada and the U.S would kick-start after the renewal of NAFTA. A rise in foreign direct investment would be witnessed by most countries in the long-run as countries will encourage investment, especially the developing countries that do not have economic means of dragging their economy from the wreckage of the pandemic.
More understanding of the obligations of international law may be developed by International Investment Tribunals. Such obligations may involve human rights, state public policy argument, state of necessity, and full protection and security. Theoretically, a long-term rise in globalization and cosmopolitanism will be witnessed.  According to the contemplation of Immanuel Kant, an era of decline cannot be guaranteed not to have started even if findings indicate that human race has been moving forward for an indefinite time since human beings act freely and even though one can dictate the actions to be taken, the action they chose to take cannot be predicted. Kant suggests that the possibility of progression towards cosmopolitanism and globalization for the advancement of perpetual peace should not be rendered impossible even in the face of any great reversal of progress (R Yacoub & El-Zomor, 2020). The argument can also be supported by the Secretary-General of the UN, who concluded that the pandemic could mark the beginning of a different type of societal and global cooperation if the right actions are taken. It is speculated that the pandemic may be concluded with more international treaties for dealing with future pandemics.
The pandemic has also raised questions of leadership across the globe. The ability of the leaders of the state is being weighed through the ability to handle the crisis in their countries. The state of sectors such as the health sector has been a major issue that has raised a fundamental political question of whether the healthcare industry should be considered a public good or should be termed as a personal choice. The healthcare policies have also been questioned, especially outside the U.S.  A debate has also ignited about whether the federal government or the local government is more effective given the rate at which each government took action in addressing the crisis. Public perception of the coronavirus has also varied across political ideologies. In the United States, a different understanding of the pandemic has revealed political and cultural division in the country (R Yacoub, & El-Zomor, 2020). For the countries that are near elections, the opinions will count for the reelection of the leaders depending on how well the citizens, especially those sharing the same ideology, are satisfied with the measures of fighting against the pandemic. The U.S politics will be greatly impacted as the country head to elections.
Economic Impact of COVID-19 on Globalization
The most remarkable effect of COVID-19 on globalization is the most important aspect of globalization, which is the economic aspect of globalization. There are different arguments about the economic impact, as many argue that the pandemic has written the end of globalization, especially with the backlash experienced in recent years. Although immense economic effects will be experienced, globalization will not come to an end. The protective and preventive measures taken by countries to curb the spread of the virus has a great impact on the globalization and international trade. The economic integration has reduced given there is no free movement of goods and services among countries. The Director-General of the World Trade Organization notes that the crisis has created supply and demand shocks that cause major disruptions in trade. Various trade-restrictive measures, such as temporary bans on exports for certain products, including food, can harm international trade.
The economic impact on globalization is amplified by the lack of a global response to the pandemic despite global the argument that the pandemic is a global crisis that requires a global response. Most responses are taken in an isolated manner as countries are not cooperating in fighting the pandemic. The big powers have gone to the extent of attempting a tit-for-tat strategy in economic and diplomatic hostility among themselves. In the European Union, member states are responding towards the pandemic individually even though the region is considered as one of the most economically integrated union. The call by Italy for the union to use the fiscal tools, including the union's bailout rescue funds, was met with skepticism, and no course of action was taken. The nature of the pandemic compromises the ability to have a global response as it not only involves the financial crisis but the risk of losing human lives. Lack of a strong economic international institution, which is central in establishing global response, is a major barrier. The operations of WTO are halted due to the lack of a law enforcement body after the United States blocked the Appellate Body's appointments. There also lacks a global leader who can champion countries towards global response. Peter Navarro, the trade adviser of Donald Trump, stated that the crisis has shown how a country cannot necessarily rely on others for needed supply.
International cooperation is significant in responding to the pandemic since the global sharing of information and accelerated production and distribution of medical supplies is critical to the fight against the virus. R Yacoub and El-Zomor (2020) recommends a travel agreement between countries that allows the travel of essential travelers such as health workers, politicians, journalists, and business people. The cooperation is also viewed as important, especially to the developing countries due to limited capabilities.
The long-term effects of the pandemic will be experienced after the pandemic is over. It is expected that the extreme barriers put in place will be lifted, although it may take time before the trade return as it was before the crisis. It is significant to note how the crisis has revealed the fragility of the global supply chain that had been in existence before the pandemic. The current global economy is founded on labor specialization across nations and is in line with the comparative advantage theory (Gruszczynski, 2020). The specialization promotes the maximization of output and welfare improvement. The pandemic has proven that although the systems have great benefits, it can be costly. For example, a shortage of essential goods such as food and medical supplies was experienced after the outbreak of the virus in China. The situation is not likely to happen again, especially to the western world. The state may start to rely more on domestic production and impose trade barriers and protectionists policies.
Imposing barriers will be easier given the current state of WTO as it may be considered weak due to the lack of a law enforcement body. The pandemic may accelerate the backlash against globalization. The recent trends have seen invoices of the leftists and other politicians who had criticized the international trade before due to a lack of actions against certain aspects such as environmental destruction, violation of human rights, and keeping of refugees and illegal immigrants out. Such voices may gain greater attention and impact, given that the crisis has been as a result of globalization.
Lack of a global response may negatively affect globalization as it may signal a lack of significant benefits related to being a member of any international community due to the lack of any assistance from the international community. The scenario will increase the tide against globalization due to negative sentiments due to the lack of global cooperation and response in solving the global crisis. Depending on the course of action the states might take, globalization may take a different direction.
According to R Yacoub and El-Zomor (2020), the supply shortage related to the crisis is due to a concentrated supply chain rather than an international supply chain. Initially, production was allocated based on cost, but the crisis had shown that supply chains should be based on risk competitiveness leading to diversification. Given the strong support that free trade and movement of capital have either in terms of ideology or interest, globalization will still be favored. The use of protectionism policies may not be favored as they may increase prices and fracture the supply chains. If businesses seek to replace foreign demand through trade barriers and other tariffs, the impact would be similar even though the intention would be to generate jobs. The effects would be shuttered supply chains and slow recovery. Based on history, waves of globalization are associated with poverty reduction, high growth rates, and increased standards of living.
Impact of COVID-19 on Global Manufacturing Industries
The manufacturing industry can be termed a major part of the global economy, given that it accounted for 16% of the global gross domestic product in 2018. Governments across countries have focused on encouraging the sector. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the global FDI, is expected to shrink with an estimate of 5-15% given the reduction in manufacturing and the shutdown of factories. The airline industry, automotive, and energy industries are expected to affect significantly. Manufacturers of chemicals, electronics, automobiles, and aircraft are experiencing a shortage of raw materials. Production has reduced with new products of new products being postponed until the end of the pandemic. The movement restrictions across regions have impacted the flow of capital goods, distribution of finished goods, and the operations have been minimized. Most of the production has been limited to the domestic market. Countries that rely on China and India for larger proportions of the supplies have been affected negatively as countries impose trade restrictions, especially on necessity commodities such as pharmaceuticals (Research and Markets, 2020).
Conclusion
The impact of the pandemic on globalization will be mainly dependent on the actions taken by various countries, especially after the end of the pandemic. The pandemic has affected social interactions between people, operation of businesses, especially those involved in the international market due to restrictions put to curb the spread of the virus. Lack of free movement of goods and people between regions has created shortages forcing countries to concentrate on domestic production. The current events will have an impact on globalization as countries may realize the need for the global response to global threats. International trade may be threatened to shortages experienced in countries that rely heavily on others for the supply of necessities.
