MAN TO DIE BY HANGING FOR KILLING A YORUBA LEADER YORUBA LEADER IN KANO

Justice Kabiru Auta of a Kano High Court on Wednesday sentenced the killer of a Kano-based business tycoon, philanthropist and Yoruba leader, Alhaji Ganiyu Akanbi Bello to death by hanging.
The accused, Abubakar Abdulrahaman (AKA Daddy, 28) was found guilty on a charge of culpable homicide, punishable with death, while he was discharged and acquitted in another charge of armed robbery.
Abubakar was accused of murdering  Alhaji Bello on June 5, 2014 in his residence on the night of the fateful day at the GRA Nassarawa, opposite Kano Race Course when he stabbed the deceased in the heart with a kitchen knife.
The prosecution, led by Barrister M.M. Sulaiman of the State Ministry of Justice and assisted by the nominal complainant Counsel, J.I. Macaulay of Kehinde Olaitan Chamber called seven witnesses and tendered several exhibits.

The mother (R) of Abdolah Hosseinzadeh, who was murdered in 2007, removes the noose with the help of her husband from around the neck of Balal, who killed her son, during the execution ceremony in the northern city of Noor on April 15, 2014, sparing the life of her son's convicted murderer. The dramatic events followed a rare public campaign to save the life of Balal, who at 19 killed another young man, Abdollah Hosseinzadeh, in a street fight with a knife back in 2007.

The exhibits included, the knife used by Daddy to stab chief Bello and the Blackberry handset of the deceased, in which he inserted his own Sim card, compelling the court to indict him as part of circumstantial evidence.
Making his last plea (Alocutus) for the accused, his Counsel from the Legal Aid Council, Barrister Adama urged the court to temper justice with mercy because of his aged mother, wife and children.
In his final verdict, the trial judge, said that the accused deserved no mercy, having committed a capital offence by murdering a bread winner like him.
Justice Auta said that the accused showed no remorse throughout the trial, just as he returned a verdict of hanging by the neck for the accused until pronounced dead.
Abubakar broke down in tears after the verdict while his mother collapsed in the open court.
The accused was one-time a staff of the deceased’s hotel.
Justice Auta finally ruled that he has right of appeal within 30 days

THE UNITED STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WAS HELD TO RANSOME B DEMOCRATS UNTIL GUN LAW IS PASSED

Rep. John Lewis, one of the last living icons of civil disobedience during the civil rights movement, was leading a sit-in on the House floor Wednesday in an effort to force a vote on gun control.
"Now is the time for us to find a way to dramatize it, to make it real," Lewis, D-Ga., said. "We have to occupy the floor of the House until there is action."
Lewis and roughly 40 House Democrats stood briefly to recite the Pledge of Allegiance as a couple dozen visitors in the gallery looked on.

"No bill, no break," the Democrats chanted loudly before returning to the floor.
It is unusual for members to disrupt the functioning of the House to this degree.
If members do not leave the floor and no compromise is reached, it is largely up to Speaker Paul Ryan to decide whether to use the authority of the House to seek to clear the floor and/or sanction members, or to keep the House in recess and wait out the issue.

'IF I WERE ON THE STREET TOMOROW,I WILL TRY AGAIN TO KILL DONALD TRUMP" TEEN ARRESTED TO HAVE TRIED TO KILL DONLD TRUMP BOASTED

The man arrested for trying to disarm a police officer inside a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas Saturday told authorities he intended to use the gun "to kill Trump," according to a new criminal complaint.
Police arrested the 19-year-old after he attempted to pull a police officer's gun from its holster inside a Las Vegas theater where Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was holding a campaign rally.
Police said Michael Sandford struck up a conversation with a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer under the pretense that he was seeking to get an autograph. During the conversation, police said Sandford tried to pull the officer's service weapon from its holster. Other officers also assigned to provide security at the event were quickly able to detain Sandford and authorities said there was no further disruption to the event.
Sanford told police that he drove to Las Vegas from California "to kill Trump," according to the complaint, after hearing a few days earlier in the news that he was expected there. On June 17, he practiced shooting a gun for the first time at a gun range in Las Vegas.
"Sanford further stated that if he were on the street tomorrow, he would try this again," reads the complaint, obtained by CNN. "Sandford claimed he had been planning to kill Trump for about a year but decided to act on this occasion because he finally felt confident about trying it."
