STAR TREK ACTOR ANTON YELCHIN DIES IN A GHASTLY AUTO CRASH

Actor Anton Yelchin, 27, who played Chekov in recent "Star Trek" movies, was killed in a freak accident early Sunday morning, police told CNN.

Yelchin, who also acted in "Like Crazy" and "Alpha Dog," died outside his home in Los Angeles, according to law enforcement.

Yelchin stepped out of his car in the driveway of his Studio City home at around 1:10 a.m. PT when the car slid backwards and pinned him against a brick pillar and a security fence, causing trauma that led to his death, said Jennifer Houser with the Los Angeles Police Department.

"The victim was on his way to meet his friends for a rehearsal and when he didn't show up, his friends went to his house where they found him deceased by his car," Houser told CNN. "It appears that he momentarily left his car, leaving it in the driveway. He was behind the vehicle when it rolled backward and pinned him to the brick pillar causing the trauma that led to his death."

Houser says Yelchin's family was notified by the friends that found him. She did not know whether the car was running when he was found.

Cleveland Cavaliers Win NBA Title After Thrilling Game 7 After 52 Years

LeBron James has finally done it. The central quest of his entire NBA career has been to bring a championship to Cleveland. A CHICAGO MAN SHOT DEAD WHILE LIVE STREAMING ON FACEBOOK

A Chicago man was shot dead while live-streaming a video of himself on Facebook, police said on Friday.

Antonio Perkins, 28, was shot in the head and neck on the city's west side.
The video is still available on Facebook and has been watched nearly 700,000 times.
It is the second time in less than three months in Chicago that a shooting has been streamed live on Facebook. In March an unidentified man was shot 16 times while broadcasting live.
No arrests have been made in either case.

Facebook's live-streaming feature allows anyone to broadcast online in real time. It was launched in 2010 but has become more central to the social network's strategy in recent months.
The video of Mr Perkins shows him and a group of people talking before gunshots are heard. The phone then appears to tumble through bloody grass before going black.
Bystanders can be heard screaming and crying.
The video remains on Facebook with a warning message about its graphic nature.
A spokeswoman for Facebook said the video does not violate company policy. The social media site would remove a video if it celebrated or glorified violence, she said.
Earlier this month, the killer of a French police commander and the commander's partner broadcast on Facebook Live shortly after the killings, urging followers to kill prison staff, police officials, journalists and lawmakers.

The Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is examining the June 12, 2016 terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida.  It is my understanding that Omar Mateen used Facebook before and during the attack to search for and post terrorism-related content.  I appreciate Facebook’s support of the law-enforcement investigation into this attack and previous attacks.  While Facebook is not a target of the Committee’s inquiry, I respectfully request your assistance with the Committee’s inquiry.

According to information obtained by my staff, five Facebook accounts were apparently associated with Omar Mateen.  On June 12, 2016, Mateen apparently searched for “Pulse Orlando” and “Shooting.”  Mateen also apparently posted “America and Russia stop bombing the Islamic state..I pledge my alliance to abu bakr al Baghdadi..may Allah accept me.”  He then posted “The real muslims will never accept the filthy ways of the west” and “You kill innocent women and children by doing us airstrikes..now taste the Islamic state vengeance.”  In a final post, Mateen apparently wrote, “In the next few days you will see attacks from the Islamic state in the usa.” 

In addition, my staff learned that in May 2016, Mateen used Facebook to search for information on the San Bernardino terrorists and on June 4, 2016, Mateen apparently searched “Baghdadi Speech.”  My staff has also learned that Mateen apparently used Facebook to conduct frequent local law enforcement and FBI searches, including searching for specific law enforcement offices.

As the Committee examines the attack and considers legislative proposals to address homegrown extremism, I respectfully request your assistance with the Committee’s inquiry given Mr. Mateen’s use of Facebook.  I ask that you please provide all Facebook data on Mr. Mateen’s activities on his account and any affiliated Facebook accounts, including but not limited to activity logs, Facebook timeline information, Facebook messages, photos, and posts.  In addition, I request that appropriate company staff arrange a briefing with Committee staff on the information available to Facebook prior to and during this terrorist attack.  Please provide this briefing and material as soon as possible but no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 29, 2016.  When delivering production sets, please produce to Majority staff in room 340 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building and to Minority staff in room 613 of the Hart Senate Office Building.

CHILD DIES AFTER BEING FOUND IN HOT CAR IN NORTH HOUSTON TX

 According to the Houston Fire Department, a young boy has died after going into cardiac arrest due to being left in a hot car on Thursday.

Evan Trapolino, 3, was found in a car in north Houston in the 1200 block of Hopper Road around 2 p.m. According to police, the boy left the house and entered the car through the front door, possibly to retrieve a toy in the backseat. When he got to the backseat, he was unable to exit the vehicle due to child-safety locks."He's a beautiful baby and kid. We have great times together all the time," Efrain Lopez, Evan's grandfather, said.

The family realized he was missing and searched for his for around 30-45 minutes before finding him in the backseat. They immediately called 911 and started CPR.

"They called 911 and started doing CPR and when they loaded him into the ambulance and left they were still doing CPR," neighbor Chris Johnson, said.

No charges have been filed, but the case is still under investigation by Houston police and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
