COACH SPTEHEN KESHI IS DEAD


Nigerian football icon Stephen Okechukwu Keshi died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City, Edo state, TheCable understands.
The former international football player and coach had lost his wife of 33 years, Kate, last year after a prolonged battle with cancer.
TheCable confirmed his death from a member of his family as well as one of his close associates. details latter

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a warehouse in a residential building in Okoko, Lagos State, filled to the brim with bags of Indian hemp aka cannabis.
The bags weigh a collective total of 8,597.63kg and was discovered in a raid on Friday 3rd June 2016. The number of arrests made over the discovery was not disclosed., check for details latter

ALEX USIFO GRADUATES FROM BABCOCK UNIVERSITY

Alex Usifo Omiagbo, the 'bad guy' of Nollywood, yu all remember him, He is famous for playing the role characters of some of Nollywood's most unforgettable villains, most notably his role in the classic Silent Night, starring Ramsey Nouah and Segun Arinze. His deep voice and commanding on-screen presence made him perfect for these roles.


Featuring in over 50 movies, Alex also gained popularity for his role as the terrifying Chief Odiete in the shortlived TV series "Beyond Our Dreams" which used to air on NTA.
Alex Usifo, asides being a prolific actor is also very passionate about academics. He studied Mass Communication And Philosophy at the University of Lagos before proceeding for a masters degree at Babcock University.
And now, at the ripe age of 63, Mr Alex is now DR Alex as he has successfully bagged a PhD from Babcock University.
The veteran Nollywood actor, on Sunday, June 5, 2016 graduated from Babcock University with a PhD.

O.A.U RATIFIED THE ELECTION OF A NEW VICE CHANCELLOR

Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife has ratified the appointment of Professor Ayobami Taofeek Salami as the new vice chancellor of the institution.



Prof. Salami was the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the institution. He graduated with a B.Sc degree (2nd Class Upper division) from (then) University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) in 1986 before he bagged an M.Sc degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989 with a specialty in Land use and Natural Resources Management. He capped it up with a Ph.D degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1996 having obtained, in 1990, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing Applications: Training in Environmental Data Generation/Handling and Geographic Information System.

A widely travelled academic, the new Vice-chancellor (Academic) became a Professor on the 1st of October, 2003. The New VC (Academic) was the secretary, Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) OAU branch from 2000 – 2002, and two term member of OAU Governing Council from 2003 –2007. He worked as a Senior Research Adviser, Corporate Environment Department, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Nigeria from 2010 – 2011 as a Sabbatical Staff. Prof. Salami has attended short training Courses in many countries Including Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and U.S.A. He has also had teaching and research experiences in The Gambia, Tanzania and The Netherlands. Professor Salami is happily married with three children. Until his new appointment, Professor Salami was the Head of Space Applications and Environmental Science Laboratory (SPAEL) and Coordinator, Climate Modeling Unit, Institute of Ecology and Environmental Studies, OAU, Ile-Ife. He was the Director of the Institute of Ecology from 2006 – 2010.

Henrietta Kosoko, actress and wife of veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, is dead.Sources close  reveal that Henrietta passed away few hours  ago after she slummed and was rushed to the hospital and in coma for hours before she finally gave up the ghost, it was reported to have been battling diabetics for a while now cause her sugar level keeps fluctuating’
Henrietta Kosoko who last week celebrated her birthday was 53 years old is gone to great beyond  May her gentle soul rest in peace and may the lord continue to grant the family the fortitude to bear the great lost.

THE GREATEST FAMOUS MUHAMMAD ALI REMAINS ARRIVED HOME IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY

Muhammad Ali’s remains arrived in his hometown of Louisville, KY on Sunday, ahead of his funeral later this week.
The boxing great’s funeral will be held on Friday, and will be followed by a public memorial service at the city’s KFC Yum! Center, family spokesman Bob Gunnell was quoted as saying by People magazine.
Ali, 74, died last Friday night at a hospital near Phoenix due to septic shock following respiratory complications.
“Muhammad’s extraordinary boxing career only encompasses half his life. The other half was committed to carrying a message of peace and inclusion to the world,” Gunnell said on Saturday. “Following his wishes, his funeral will reflect those principals and will be a celebration open to everyone.”
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton will give a eulogy at Friday afternoon’s funeral, as will actor Billy Crystal and news anchor Bryant Gumbel.
